Alumnus and entrepreneur, Hector Motau, also known as Hector Motivator acknowledges TUT as a dream enabler. Owing to TUT’s support, he has come full circle in realising his dream of becoming one of the most respected radiopreneurs in the country.

Alumnus and entrepreneur, Hector Motau, better known as Hector Motivator.

As the first student to establish the first on-campus Black radio station, Radio TNT now known as TUT FM, in 1993 at the then Technikon Northern Transvaal (TNT), Hector was also the first Alum to be interviewed on Tshwane FM’s new show, Alumni Talk. He emphasized that TUT creates an enabling environment to make students’ dreams come true and he is living proof of that notion.

The multi-talented, Mabopane-born Alumnus, is a motivational speaker, entrepreneur and radio presenter. Until January this year, Hector has been the owner of the resuscitated Radio Bop, which was initially one of the most popular pop culture radio stations of the former Bophuthatswana homeland.

He encouraged students and graduates to venture into business and tap into different job markets. “Never allow your qualification to become your limitation, box you in and close you to other opportunities,” he said.

He added that Alumni have a responsibility to come back to their Alma Mater and inspire students. He said an active Alumni association can play a critical role in inspiring students through showcasing its most successful Alumni.
