The TUT Vikings have a new leader at the helm! Flash Malinga boasts an impressive coaching career that includes stints with the Cape Town Wild Dogs and the Blue Bulls U18 Academy. He recently took the reins as head coach for the TUT Varsity Shield team.
"It is an incredible honour to be appointed as the TUT Vikings’ head coach. I want to make the best of this opportunity; therefore, we will tackle the campaign one match at a time. The goal is to play excellent rugby, " said Malinga.
Malinga believes this is an opportune time to introduce a new style of play and new tactics to help the Vikings go all out in defeating any opponent that is going to stand in the way in the Varsity Cup. "We will have a mixed brand of Rugby; spectators can expect a kicking game mixed with throwing the ball around. We aim to use our strengths to our advantage," he explained.
“I back you, whatever you decide to do on the field,” Malinga said, advising the team to control what they can and never be afraid to express themselves on the field.
