Moagi was excited to be to be back at the station where she started her broadcasting journey as a news reader in 2008.

“It’s great to see that the radio is still going strong and to speak to the young generation of future broadcasters. Having been in the broadcast business since 2008, it felt good for me to impart some knowledge and inspire them, since they are the future of broadcasting,” she said.

She emphasized on the importance for Alumni to share their industry experience with students to increase their readiness for the world of work.

“What you learn at tertiary level, is somehow different in industry. I must say, what TUT has done in founding Tshwane FM and collaborating with Rekord Noweto to give students access to the experience they need, is beautiful and commendable,” she said.

Her presentation focused on navigating through the challenges in the broadcast media industry. She also encouraged the presenters to approach the harsh realities in the field of journalism with a positive mindset.

Moagi added that TUT played a major role in empowering her to be the excellent broadcaster she has become. According to her, the Journalism Department drew her out of her shell and she was a different person to the one who arrived at the TUT Soshanguve Campus in 2007.

“It was a really happy time for me. I learned so much about myself, the power I have as a journalist and media law. That, to a large extent, was how TUT empowered me,” she said.

She added that TUT has brilliant people to teach and grow young people in support of the University’s drive to empower younger generations.

“This is where I found my footing in Journalism. They tapped into my potential, enhanced my skills and showed me what I could do with my voice,” she concluded.
