Dr Dee Khosa, Senior Lecturer at the Tshwane University of Technology’s (TUT) Department of Law, Safety and Security Management has been given a second nod to serve as non-executive Director for the Road Traffic Infringement Agency (RTIA).

Dr Khosa, wo has served as member of the National Traffic Law Enforcement Review Committee appointed by the Minister of Transport previously, indicated that hard work and the experience gained during this process, has given her insight into the industry. “I consider all these appointments and opportunities as blessings and favour from God. I will continue to serve on this board grounded in the faith I have in my Heavenly Father,” she said.

I am fully aware of the significant responsibilities that come with this role, I am committed to fulfilling them to the best of my abilities and I will dedicate myself wholeheartedly to ensuring success in this endeavour."
The RTIA is established in terms of section 3 of the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences Act, 1998 (Act No. 46 of 1998). It is an entity of the National Department of Transport with the Honourable Minister as a shareholder and executing authority.
The objectives of the Agency are: Section 4, of the Act provides four (4) main objectives:
- Administer procedures to discourage the contravention of road traffic laws and to execute the adjudication of infringements;
- Enforce penalties imposed on those contravening road traffic laws;
- Provide specialised prosecution support services;
- Carry out community education and community awareness programmes to ensure that individuals understand their rights and options.
It is the responsibility of the accounting authority to provide strategic guidance to the Agency in achieving its mandate.
