Professor in the Department of Performing Arts, TUT Faculty of Arts and Design, and acclaimed jazz saxophonist, Prof Karendra Devroop, has released his 6th CD recording entitled Overjoyed.
The album showcases the talents of Prof Devroop and his global jazz quintet, featuring Hans Vroomans (piano - Netherlands), Mageshen Naidoo (guitar - South Africa), Hein van de Geyn (bass - Netherlands), Kevin Gibson (drums - South Africa) and the Mzansi National Philharmonic Orchestra.
With ten tracks from Grammy-winning artists like Stevie Wonder, Sting, Chicago, Billy Joel, and others, the album boasts intricate arrangements for saxophone, jazz quintet and string orchestra by esteemed Venezuelan arranger Trino Jimenez.
The title track, Overjoyed, currently enjoys widespread airplay in 25+ countries and holds the #31 spot on the US Smooth Jazz Listener Charts.
