Dr Yanga LP Majola from the Department of Applied Languages (Faculty of Humanities) at the Mbombela Campus, who has been awarded a Y2 rating from the National Research Foundation (NRF).
It means that Dr Majola is recognised by the majority of reviewers as having the potential to establish himself as a leading researcher, demonstrated by his impressive research work in the field of languages.
Dr Majola is a dedicated academic with more than 10 research articles published in DHET accredited journals and many more presentations delivered at local and international conferences. His research interests are vast, covering isiBhaca, Dialectology, Language Standardization, Language in Education, Sociolinguistics, Language Policy and Planning, Onomastics, Computational Linguistics and Translation Studies.
He is a member of the African Languages Association of Southern Africa (ALASA), Secretary General of the Names Society of Southern Africa (NSSA) and a member of the South African Translators Institute (SATI).
