Three alumni from the Faculty of Arts and Design's Department of Design Studies (Fashion Design), Victor Obakeng (The Trendsetter from the North), Frank Ramatsetse (Candid) and Kinsley Baloyi (Undefined Outdoor Clothing), have been selected as finalists for the prestigious Mr Price Scouting Menswear Competition, a key event in the South African Fashion Week (SAFW) calendar. This significant achievement is a testament to their hard work, creativity and unwavering passion for fashion.

Launched in 2012, the Mr Price Scouting Menswear competition aims to spotlight the best emerging talent in menswear design.

Over the years, it has successfully raised the profile of many young designers, providing them with vital exposure to the media and potential buyers, as well as facilitating their entry into the retail market.

Through its focused efforts, the competition not only showcases innovative talent, but also equips designers with the necessary tools to effectively launch their brands.

The finalists, including our talented alumni, are now poised to make their mark on the industry like never before. The excitement surrounding the competition goes beyond recognition.

The winner of this prestigious competition will receive an impressive prize package worth over R50 000.

"We are immensely proud of Victor, Frank and Kinsley for this remarkable achievement and look forward to seeing the impact they will have on the fashion industry. Their dedication and talent not only inspire their peers but also upholds the legacy of excellence within our Department," says Soloshna Naidoo, Lecturer in the Department of Design Studies (Fashion Design).

The winner will be announced on 26 September.
