Mpumi Pule, a Mechanical Engineer and Certified Coach from Pretoria, has set her sights on making a lasting impact through her alma mater, the Tshwane University of Technology.

Through her NGO, World Education Network, founded in 2018, Mpumi is focused on enhancing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education and supporting underrepresented students in technical careers.

Her goal is to bridge the gap between education and industry, providing students with hands-on experience and mentorship that prepare them for future challenges. Mpumi is particularly passionate about building partnerships between the University and various industries, offering students opportunities for Work-Integrated Learning.

She sees alumni collaboration as key to creating a thriving mentorship network, where students can gain the confidence and skills needed for success in science and engineering fields.  

Her commitment to the University extends to serving as a mentor and coach, while she plans to engage in various university initiatives, from judging beauty pageants to offering career coaching and participating in the University’s fundraising Pretoria Golf Day.

The Mrs South Africa 2024 competition finalist wants to become a strong advocate for community service, while balancing her professional and personal commitments. 

She envisions an inclusive University that excels in innovation, driven by the collective efforts of alumni. She believes that alumni can help transform the institution into a hub for industry collaboration and societal impact, ensuring that students are not only academically successful but also well-equipped to contribute to society.

“Alumni play a crucial role in bridging the gap between academia and industry. Together, we can provide students with the mentorship and real-world experience they need to succeed.”

Pule’s work with the University is just beginning and her plans are grounded in a vision of growth, inclusivity and strong alumni connections that will shape the next generation of leaders.
