The Tshwane University of Technology’s Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FoICT) hosted its prestigious annual Top Achievers Awards at the Protea Fire and Ice Hotel in Menlyn. Bringing together top performing Faculty students and staff the event celebrated academic and research excellence and qualification milestones. 

The awards ceremony annually provides a platform to appreciate excellence in academic performance and research contributions, along with the Faculty's commitment to continuous professional development.

In addition to announcing Faculty winners, top students from each department at the Faculty were honoured: 

    • Lungelo Mkhwemte – Best Diploma Student 
    • Jahid Miah – Best Advanced Diploma Student 
    • Lithando Gqulu – Best Postgraduate Diploma Student 
    • Relebogile Langa – Best Master’s Student 
    • Ngoanamosadi Mphahlele – Best Doctoral Student 

These students have excelled in their respective programmes, demonstrating exceptional dedication, perseverance and academic prowess.

The awards also extended to the Faculty’s top researchers, acknowledging outstanding research contributions for the years 2022 and 2023. These awards highlighted the importance of research within FoICT and its critical role in driving innovation, academic growth and finding practical solutions to societal challenges.

In addition to the students, staff members were also recognized for qualification improvements of Diplomas and Degrees completed between 2022 and 2024. This acknowledgment underscores the Faculty’s emphasis on continuous learning and development, which is essential in the fast-paced, ever-evolving world of ICT.

The event served not only to honour excellence but also to strengthen the bond between staff and students, creating a sense of pride and community within the faculty. It reinforced the University's mission to foster academic excellence and innovation, ensuring that both students and staff are equipped to contribute meaningfully to the ICT sector.
