The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) was honoured for its outstanding contributions to technology and education during the African Summit on Entrepreneurship and Innovation (ASENTI) Summit and the parallel Ghana Digital Week from 1 to 4 October, in Accra, Ghana.

Dr Unéné Gregory, Project Manager for Public and Private Partnerships at TUT’s Institute for the Future of Work (IFoW) and the University Spokesperson, Phaphama Tshisikhawe, represented the institution at the event. Both played an integral role in the discussions as speakers and they were instrumental in TUT being recognised for advancing entrepreneurship and innovation in higher education.

“The award reflects the University’s ongoing commitment to leveraging technology and education to empower students and prepare them for the evolving demands of the future workforce. This recognition also highlights TUT’s leadership in integrating practical, innovative solutions within the academic sphere and solutions that not only drive technological progress, but also inspire entrepreneurship among the youth,” said Dr Gregory and Tshisikhawe.

Through this engagement, TUT has strengthened its position as a key player in shaping Africa’s technological and educational landscape, while building partnerships that will bring lasting benefits to its students and staff.

The ASENTI Summit has become one of the most influential platforms in driving economic growth and growing innovation in the continent. The summit, now in its ninth year attracts more than 400 speakers from across the globe and it continues to be a vital forum for knowledge exchange and collaboration between entrepreneurs, innovators, start-ups, investors and leaders from both the public and private sectors.
