In 24 days – on the 1st of January 2024 to be precise - the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) will turn twenty. This milestone deserves our celebration. In the two decades of its existence, TUT has been a gamechanger in the South African higher education landscape.
Over just two short decades, TUT has carved a unique and distinct brand for itself. It is a University, which occupies the space where academia meets industry, where cutting-edge technology drives curriculum development.
In two short decades, TUT has crafted and deployed 21st century curricula in consultation with our industry partners. In the process, we have flipped the classroom, and we have turned TUT into the premier entrepreneurial University of South Africa - an institution where innovators, inventors, creators and future-ready graduates are made.
Today, the People’s University has become a national laboratory for thought leadership on future work readiness, a hub for artificial intelligence, and the home of sporting champions.
As part of our 20th anniversary commemoration, we will reflect, regroup, consolidate and accelerate our efforts to build a 21st century University of Technology that is on top of its game.
We will not merely look back on the past twenty years with nostalgia and complacency, but we shall use the milestone to identity the strategies that will keep moving TUT from good to great over the next twenty years.
