Opera enthusiasts can look forward to this year’s Gems of Opera, staged by the Tshwane University of Technology’s Faculty of Arts and Design, Department of Performing Arts, Opera Programme, in collaboration with the Dance Programme, on 24, 26 and 28 August 2025 at the Breytenbach Theatre.
Gems of Opera is a pastiche of your favourite scenes from the most accessible international operas. Our offering includes light-hearted comedy extracts from Cosi fan tutte, grandiose choruses by Verdi, Gounod and Donizetti, fun extracts from Hänsel und Gretel and Don Pasquale and beautiful bel canto by Bellini.
The programme also includes exciting arias ranging from Mozart to Gershwin.
Performances are scheduled for 24 August (15:00), 26 August (19:00) and 28 August (19:00).
Tickets are R90 per person and R45 for pensioners and students.
