Prof Karendra Devroop, a renowned jazz saxophonist and pianist as well as an experienced academic, joined the Tshwane University of Technology’s Faculty of Arts and Design in April as Professor in the Department of Performing Arts. In an interview, Prof Devroop said that in coming to TUT he was fully aware of the remarkable impact that the Faculty has had on the artistic sector in South Africa, and that its greatest strength lies in the fact that all departments are closely linked on one campus, making collaboration and a fully rounded arts education a possibility for students.

Prof Adewale Olutola from the Tshwane University of Technology’s Department of Law, Safety & Security Management has been invited to carry out a full-time secondment as an Experienced Researcher (ER), within the CatChain project at the Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi. The project, which is funded by the European Commission at the Invernizzi Center for Research on Innovation, Organization, Strategy and Entrepreneurship (ICRIOS) of the Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi ended early in 2024. Luigi Bocconi is a private University established in 1902.

On 14 March 2024, Dr Gloria Tomatoe Serobe was installed as the fourth Chancellor of the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). The investiture of Dr Serobe was performed by the TUT Chair of Council, Mr Ivan ka Mbonane, the Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Prof Tinyiko Maluleke, and the Registrar, Dr Michael Mushaathoni.
