TUT Appoints Dr Nomusa Masubelele as Head of Nursing Science

TUT has named Dr Nomusa Masubelele, a lecturer and researcher at the School of Nursing Science, as the new Head of the Adelaide Tambo School of Nursing Science.

A Registered Nurse with more than a decade of clinical and academic experience, Dr Masubelele joined TUT in 2012 as a Clinical Preceptor. She has been instrumental in teaching second-year nursing students and shaping the School Health programme. She holds an MTech in Nursing and a PhD, with her research focusing on adolescent obesity and how the curriculum can support health interventions.
Dr Masubelele’s work spans Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, covering both Non-Communicable and Communicable Diseases, with a strong focus on and passion for adolescent health.
Professor Ntebogeng Mokgalaka-Fleischmann, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Science, said Dr Masubelele’s appointment underscores TUT’s commitment to research-driven leadership that responds to community needs. Her expertise is expected to strengthen the School’s teaching, research and contribution to national health priorities.
Under Dr Masubelele’s leadership, the Adelaide Tambo School of Nursing Science is set to continue advancing innovation in nursing education while making a real impact on community health.
"I am truly humbled to accept this appointment. I want to thank the leadership of the University for the opportunity and my predecessor for the strong foundation they built. My goal is to foster a collaborative environment where every voice is heard as we work together to take our department from Good to Great,” Dr Masubelele said.
