TUT Research Professor appointed Chairperson of AgriSETA Board

The Minister of Higher Education and Training, Buti Manamela, has appointed TUT Prof and Head of Crop Sciences, Prof Puffy Soundy, as Chairperson of the AgriSETA Accounting Authority for five years.

Prof Soundy will lead the Agricultural Sector Education and Training Authority (AgriSETA) in overseeing governance and strategic direction within the agricultural education and training sector. He will also provide leadership to the Board in its role of overseeing the AgriSETA's mandate of addressing the skills gaps in the agricultural sector.
He is an accomplished academic leader in horticultural science and agribusiness with expertise in sustainable agriculture. He has contributed significantly to value chain development in horticulture, linking smallholder farmers to markets.
Prof Soundy is the Fibre Processing and Manufacturing (FP&M) Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) Research Chair in Sustainable Value Chains, Entrepreneurship and Climate Resilience.
