The Tshwane University of Technology’s (TUT) Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment (FEBE) collaborated with the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAE) in the United Kingdom in hosting a six-hour workshop on the Role of Project-based learning (PBL) in Engineering Education. The workshop explored the concept of Conceive Design, Implement and Operate (CDIO). The objective was to highlight the project-based approach, which is necessary to develop prerequisite skills for Electric Vehicles Manufacturing. The workshop covered the successful implementation of the CDIO approach to enhance the students’ experience and industry-readiness in the UK.

The Arts Campus recently buzzed with energy as Postgraduate Diploma in Design students immersed themselves in a dynamic three-week research boot camp from 26 February to 14 March 2024. The Postgraduate Diploma in Design is a unique transdisciplinary programme that includes students from Commercial Photography, Fashion Design, Integrated Communication Design and Interior Design. 

The Faculty of Arts and Design, Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), is delighted to announce a pioneering partnership with the Riky Rick Foundation for the Promotion of Artivism, Community Arts Network (CAN) and the Global Commons Alliance (GCA) for the highly anticipated inaugural Global Artivism Conference 2024, scheduled to take place in Pretoria from 5 to 8 September 2024. This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to leveraging the arts for social and environmental change, fostering a platform for dialogue, innovation, advocacy and action.

On 9 March 2024, the Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Tinyiko Maluleke unveiled a Blue Plaque of two national heritage sites at Toppieshoek, a Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) property on the banks of Hartbeespoort Dam within the UNESCO designated Magaliesberg Biosphere Reserve.

The Tshwane University of Technology and CSIR Cannabis Hub has been granted two hemp permits: one for cultivation and commercialisation and the other for research purposes. The permits will allow for the cultivation of hemp on up to 20 hectares of land.

Golden Key, the world’s largest collegiate honour society, recently awarded noble Key Status to the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), one of 15 active university and college chapters in South Africa. TUT’s Golden Key Chapter was established in 2020 under the leadership of Prof Ben van Wyk, DVC Teaching, Learning and Technology. Receiving noble Key Status from the society means that the TUT Chapter has contributed exemplary towards the society’s three pillars of Leadership, Academics and Service.
