On 8 April 2024, Prof Tshilidzi Marwala, the University of Cambridge-trained artificial intelligence expert whose work and ideas are celebrated worldwide will receive the highest academic accolade at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), an Honorary Doctorate in Engineering (Doctor Technologiae Honoris Causa). The Department of Basic Education launched Lethabong High School in Soshanguve as a special school for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Members of TUT’s GAMMA® team were invited by the MEC for Education, Matome Chiloane and the Principal of Lethabong High, Mmaphefo Malope, to attend the launch. TUT’s team was represented by several lecturers from the School of Education, in the Faculty of Humanities.
