Adoptee of the Tshwane University of Technology’s Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FoICT), the Sikhululekile Secondary School in Temba, Hammanskraal, was formally renamed Sikhululekile Maths, Science & ICT School of Specialisation on 8 February 2024. FoICT adopted the school to assist them with ICT training, equipment and projects, after the announcement that the school was earmarked to become a school of specialisation in maths, science and ICT and that it would be the only ICT specialisation school in Tshwane North.

Tshwane University of Technology's Faculty of Arts and Design, the University of South Africa's (UNISA) Music Foundation and the Mzansi Philharmonic, South Africa's national orchestra, have joined creative forces to present a ground-breaking concert titled Bolly-Jazz Symphonic Encounter. Ivy Morulane, newly appointed Disability Unit Coordinator at the Tshwane University of Technology, Alum from TUT’s School of Education and long-time disability activist, has been elected Chairwoman of the Higher and Further Education Disability Services Association (HEDSA), Gauteng Region.
She is an active member of the advocacy and rights-based non-profit organisation that represents disability services in Higher and Further Education Institutions (HEDSA).
As Chairperson, she will oversee the development of an inclusive PSET system for the Gauteng Region, assist Post-School Education and Training (PSET), institutions towards the creation of an environment that is supportive of individuals with disabilities, serving as the chair of the HEDSA National Executive Committee and guaranteeing that disability compliance is mainstreamed in all PSET institutions in the region.
Talking about her election as HEDSA Chairperson in Gauteng, she said: “This position will strengthen our relationship with DHET and other disability units in the Gauteng region. It will enable us to share best practices and learn from one another as we work towards the common goal of standardising our services and sharing resources.”
She has been working as a SDS Practitioner since 2008, supporting and advocating for the inclusion of students with disabilities. Hence, her Masters’ Degree in Education also focused on "Challenges Faced by Students with Visual Impairments at a University of Technology”.

The Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics programme (MOP) at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) has achieved a significant milestone by applying for and receiving international recognition from the prestigious International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO). This achievement comes as a result of rigorous efforts undertaken during the establishment of the new Bachelor of Health Science: Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics programme, replacing the longstanding National Diploma programme that operated from 1987 to 2021.
